NOTICE OF A SPECIAL CAFA MEETING--APRIL 22, 2006
CAFA AND ALL FAMILY ASSOCIATIONS
CAFA will host a
gathering of all the family Associations that are under the umbrella of
CAFA. It will be held on Saturday 22, April, 2006 at the Woodmen
of the World Hall in Maurice from 10:00 AM until about 2:00 PM. A meal
will be served for $5.00 for adults, children under 12 free.
The focus of the meeting will be to help get more
families together and promote more participation, by all families, and
all the members of these families.
A special feature of this meeting will be the
attendance of two persons from Nova Scotia to discuss and present a
program on the existence of what had been "Thibodeau Village" prior to
the deportation in 1755. Thibodeau Village, located on the St. Croix
River in Poplar Grove, Nova Scotia, some 25 miles west of Grand Pre, is
today owned and farmed by the Shaw family. Sara Beanlands, a member of
the present owners, and Dick Thibodeau, from Maine will be discussing
and presenting the program. This is of interest to all families, not
just the Thibodeau
family.
Please make a special effort to attend a very
interesting event and get some great food, and meet, or re-meet, the
other Acadian Families. This kind of event can only succeed with the
help of all the Family Associations and their members.
